Boiling oil murder suspect turns herself in
HANCOCK COUNTY — Wanted for more than a week, Edna Mae Sanders, 45, turned herself in to authorities here this morning facing a murder charge for her alleged involvement in the cooking-oil killing of her husband.

Police believe Sanders poured a pot of hot grease on her husband, Sherman, while he was sleeping at their Diamondhead home July 28, just seven days after their one-year wedding anniversary.

Sanders’ older brother, Lawrence Miller, told police she knocked on his door last night in Gonzales, La., carrying a suitcase and crying. After a few hours of talking, Miller told investigators, he convinced her to turn herself in.

Sherman Sanders, 53, a U.S. Navy retiree who worked briefly in the human resources department at Stennis Space Center, spent a week clinging to life in an Alabama hospital, with third-degree burns on more than half of his body. He died this past Friday.

Police had not been able to find a motive, but investigators are expected to speak with Sanders later today. Hancock investigators have said Sherman Sanders recently considered getting a divorce.

2. I guess she figured she was in hot water
Thanks for that info. I feel safer now (really.) We are just a few miles up the road from Hancock County.

3. As long as she didn't head up to Saucier
my family was safe. Not that they seemed overly concerned. I do have friends in DeLisle, but since they aren't married to her, they didn't seem likely to be in danger.

5. "in hot water"? Poor taste, bro.
Which isn't to say that I didn't snort coffee everywhere.

6. Hello Mr Coffee
We found us a bag of Seattle's Best French Roast down here in Mississippi and do enjoy it. It is rather pricey though but it compares favorably to New Orleans best. Hows that for good taste?

9. I invite
you to Cafe Dumonde on Decatur Street to enjoy Cafe A'ulait and beignets. A gift from the gods of decadence.

Or you might want to order some to enjoy at home:

14. There are two types of people in the world
The ones who are at Cafe Du Monde, and the ones who aren't. You and me, my friend, are in the wrong group at this moment.

13. I especially enjoy the ambience about one in the morning
when you can almost see Andy Jackson's statue moving and the occasional cab whizzing by Decatur. Where the din from Bourbon Street is barely detectable where Marie Lavou is awakening for a few hours of mischief.

21. Bullshit. You have NO Evidence of that. NONE.

Even if she wasn't what?

Here's more like it, EVEN IF SHE WAS, that is no fucking excuse. But, there has been no indication of any such thing.

I am so sick of people blaming the vicitim in this case.

She is a monster. There is NO EXCUSE at all for any such behavior short of actual in the moment self-defense. Since he was sleeping, that is clearly not the case.

Stop making excuses for this woman. She is a vicious murderer and deserves to be treated like one.

Have some freaking compassion for the victim. She melted his fucking skin off for christ sake! Stop trying to blame him. It is total bullshit. Offensive.

Why so desperate to excuse these horrific actions?

and accept it with NO evidence of any such thing.

26. he said he wanted a divorce
first wife said he's a good guy and they were still friends, that there was no hint of abuse, but he made a mistake in marrying this woman that he didn't really know and that he was making plans to get away from her

some sociopaths can mask themselves and be really, really charming -- until they don't get their way

that's all we know now, at least the kids have been found and are safe from this witch
