Anybody else's kid make up strange games? |
|
LeftyKid made up a game a while back where he'll cup his hands like he's holding something and bring it to me. He tells me what it is, then I tell him thank you and take the invisible object from his hands. It started out with simple things like toys, then he started bringing me imaginary animals (sometimes he tells me that they have owies and need help) or cartoon people. Then it got really weird and he started bringing me things like planets and prehistoric animals.
In the past few minutes he's pretended to bring me my keys (I lose them a lot,) some money, a flowerhat jelly, an anomolocaris and Swiper from Dora the Explorer.
Is my kid wierd or do your kids do stuff like this too?

but when I was a teenager, we created "Spaceopoly" which was an interstellar version of Monopoly. Of course, we couldn't sell it or anything, because of all the copyrights and stuff.

Mine was too at that age, I think they all are.
Mine used to play a game she called "who wants this". It was like an auction for her dolls. She would hold up different toys & ask who wants this. Then she would put them in piles in front of the dolls.
I'm just glad it was a silent auction.

6. No, your kid's not weird at all. |

My daughter used to play a game with a girlfriend (they were 3) called "Missy Fussy"... I have no idea how it really went but it had something to do with one of them being Missy Fussy, and the other one being the problem child. Missy Fussy would say something like,"This is a mess! Clean it up!" and slam the door... and then they would switch.
My boy, BabyG, used to "cook" me dinner in his toy kitchen. He would come up to me and say, "Here, it's a hamburger." I'd pretend to eat it and he would say,"Actually it's a DOG burger!!!" and run away giggling. He was about 2 and a half at the time. He would bring me drinks and say,"Careful Mama... not so fast...you'll get a stummy ache!"... ahhh, I'm all teary now. :hi:

11. LeftyKid has his own vegan drive through |
|
He made it himself with his colapsible play tent, a lap tray and a cheap play stove and pan set. Usually the menu is chick'n patties and fries or bbq tofu and asparagus, but sometimes he pretends to make desserts instead.
It's really funny watching a kid get so excited about making tofu and asparagus.

Wannabe...since she's here and I can now embarass the heck out of her, used to form deep and bonded relationships with inanimate things... like her sippy cup. She used to walk around hugging it to her cheek, would wrap it in a blanket... Crazy stuff. I think it is a sign of active imaginations and I bet your son will do excellent in school.

Your child’s behavior is not weird in the least. It’s simply that he’s got a creative and imaginative mind and indeed the fact that he can think of such diverse animals and objects that he pretends to bring to you obviously shows that he has a great deal of intelligence and that his mind is stimulated by his environment and what he observes and watches

12. He's weird. You'll have to get rid of him. |
|
Not permanently, of course, only when you need a moment's peace!
My older daughter made up a lot of games. In kindergarten she kept playing this game called Starcat, which was an imagination game based on what we figured must have been a cartoon. She assigned roles to each of her friends--Starcat's mom, kids, brother. Her teacher said she had half the class involved, and would settle disputes and find new characters for everyone who wanted to play. After a while we realized it was all her, there was no cartoon, she had invented a whole universe for her friends. I imagine there was some kernel that inspired the whole thing, but I knew every show she watched, and her teacher swore it was nothing like anything they watched at school.
She played this until she saw Pokeman, then that became her world.

My son, when he was turning 3, wanted a "sessorbee" for his birthday. He was a late talker and we were killing ourselves trying to figure it out. He would tell us that it had a button, and lights, and noise, and (uncomprehendingly) flew through the air. We would ask Spaceship? No.... Airplane? No.... A sessorbee. If it wasn't for my good friend PassingFair babysitting him one day and walking by the Television while the ad was on BabyG would have never gotten a "60 second toothbrush" for his birthday. :)
"flies through the air"? A toothbrush??
