Talk Show Host Mike Douglas dies on his 81st birthday
Breaking on CNN. I used to watch him back in the 70's. A far better host than Merv Griffin, for his type of talk and entertainment program.

3. Oh my Golly!
He can't have been 81.

I watched him everyday after school... and I agree, he was a lot better than Merv.

Remember how, when he was surprised by something he would say, "Good Night!" all the time? :( RIP Mr. Douglas.

8. That's sad.. I love his show
:-(

I agree - I liked him better than Merv Griffin. Douglas was a real down to earth kind of guy.

14. I watched his show every day after school...
followed by a syndicated rerun of Star Trek.

That was some damn fine TV. Douglas was one of the very best.

15. Me, too!
For some reason, though, the only specific show I can remember was Natalie Cole's appearance when she was just getting started, and she did a great live version of "This Will Be." His show was a staple of my childhood.
