2. How cute!
He looks cold in the snow though.

BTW, maybe no one replied because the pic isn't showing up? I just see a green TrekNature logo.
I couldn't see it in Firefox so I opened IE, which I hate, and there it is. :)

FYI, I only mentioned the Firefox thing because the polls I've seen here indicate that's the browser most here use.

5. Yep, I joined the Squirrel Nut Brigade years ago.
Fell in love with a squirrel I named Cyclops. She was my buddy. Used to help me in my garden, believe it or not. On planting days, I would give her a handful of seeds and she would plant herself a garden too. It was so adorable the way she patted the ground with both paws to cover her seeds.

Here is a picture of her eating some sunflower seeds:

33. I was planting several different types of seeds, including
sunflower seeds. She only planted the sunflower seeds I gave her too. It was interesting that she followed my lead and copied what I did. I thought that was really cool.

of greedy little arboreal American offspring mauling her mammaries.

What the heck is up with Arboreal American #2? Scent-marking?

38. Actually AA #1 was one I named Nipper.
AAs have two litters per year and she never missed an opportunity. She would come down from her tree when I called her and join me at a picnic table to eat the peanuts I had brought. When she had filled up, she'd grab not one, but two for the road and scamper back to her nest. I think I once met one of her offspring. He sat atop the table and demanded two peanuts for the road before he left. I told him, "I knew your mom!" Nipper and I remained friends for over six years which is a pretty good lifespan for AAs in the wild.

In the second picture, that AA is sprawled on the ground in what I call the "roadkill pose." I've heard from others that it helps to cool their bellies in hot weather. Whatever the reason, I had 20-30 little beggars that would come to me over an afternoon and accept my bribes. They seemed to get comfortable with my presence, because their behavior was quite relaxed when they were around me.

29. Oh! That reminds me...
:D I was sitting outside one day in our yard, reading, cross legged, when I looked up and suddenly this squirrel was at my knee, looking up at me. I slowly backed into the house, and it followed me, climbing up the screen for about half an hour and trying to find a way in. Mom and I snuck out the back door for weeks afterward...

28. I think rats get a bum rap...
They aren't so bad...They're merely the victims of circumstance.

Consider lab rats...the kinds that are sold in pet stores. They're very intelligent creatures...playful and personable once you get to know them.

It's our understandable fear of the diseases rats can carry, and their aggressive behavior when they need to compete for food in the wild (or in the city) that makes them seem so horrible.

31. I enjoy watching the squirrels and rabbits in our yard.
we have a squirrel feeder in our backyard. We get corn logs from the hardware store where hubby works part time. It's also fun to watch the squirrels run along the top of our neighbors' fence. Hubby likes to send our dog to chase the squirrels. He never catches one. I wonder if the squirrels like to laugh at our old dog. A squirrel ate half of a green tomato on one of our vines.

35. Year ago, I had a dog named Sockie who used to want to
play with the squirrels in the yard. He couldn't get to them. That was back when we had him on a chain (leash laws/city limits.) He would go to the end of his rope and bark and bark at them. One of them would sit there almost within reach and eat right in front of him. She is the one I named Cyclops. She was very smart like that and always showed her intelligence. She knew exactly how far he could go and where she'd be safe.
