I just graduated from Finishing School! |
|
I took a one week class in decorative finishing (Walls-1) in Atlanta. It was fantastic! Next month I'll take the Creative Cabinetry and Color & Design classes. This will allow me to re-do the kitchen cabinets, walls, floor, and tile in our 100 year-old house myself. The courses will cost me what a glazer alone would charge for the cabinets.
After I finish my house, I'll start doing cabinets and furniture (and a few, select walls) for hire. I've got a decorator and a cabinet maker who are both desperate for a decorative finishing artisan.
I'm thinking about calling my business Bo Zarts. Whatcha think?

Your class sounds like sooo much fun! And you've got a new business to boot! I love your business's name- that's very cute. How did you hear about the classes? Are both classes at the same place? They sound intensive- Please share what all you learned, I would be interested to know.

3. Here's hoping you can make a go of it |
|
We had the master working for us many yeras ago when the job came our way. He could made wood look like stone, be it serpentine, granite, marble,or whatever, and could finish MFD to look like anything from VG fir, redwood, white oak, to rosewood. All the tools of his trade fit in one little ditty bag and he got passed around alot because he was that good but the demand sketchy. He could not find full employment despite his magic touch and would cry when people would settle for printed vinyl. Danny Glover owns some of his magic in his weekend 'script reading' house in Sonoma.

when I read this I was thinking one of those schools where they teach you manners...I don't know if they even have them any more.
