Favorite soap/body wash?
Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 12:17 PM by NewWaveChick1981
I'm a soap girl---never liked shower gels. :) My favorite mass market soaps are Safeguard and original formula Coast. My favorite specialty/high-end soaps are Lush Alkmaar (DAMN, I love that soap!), Norfolk Lavender Night-Blooming Jasmine and Norfolk Lavender Lavender Soap.

I first bought Alkmaar soap at the Lush shop on Princes Street in Edinburgh on a trip to the UK a few years ago. I immediately fell in love with it! That was when Lush (bath and body boutique) was only in the UK and did mail order through Canada, so when I had to get a Lush fix, I ordered a lot at one time through the Canadian outlet. I had such a Jones for this soap that it's all I used for a long time. :P I still order it, but fortunately, the US now has Lush shops and mail order. I don't think I'll ever find another soap that's THAT good. Lush makes a lot of other soaps, but not like Alkmaar.... :loveya:

1. I have a particular fondness for anything that comes out of Bath and
Bodyworks. Especially if it's in mango or cherry. I like to smell yummy. But in a pinch, the Garden Fresh costco soap does mighty well, too.

3. I can't even walk past that store without sneezing,
my eyes start watering and burning, and I get real itchy. I wish I could smell purdy!!

5. If the perfumes bother you, try a sensitive skin shop.
They work well for people who have problems with certain perfumes. It's probably not the smell as much as it's some sort of irritant. Soaps from shops for the sensitive actually smell really good. And a plus is that most of them are locally owned and blue.

18. I don't think there's anything like that around here (Pittsburgh)
This is the hometown of heavy perfume wearers. I'd love to find a place that makes something more subtle, though. I get bored of smelling like myself :boring: .

21. Try online.
That might work.

Yes, smelling like yourself gets old. Try something new :)

Welcome to DU! :hi:

4. I'm not particularly fond of B&BW, mainly because it seems like
everything I have gotten there has the same underlying perfume-y smell. If I want vanilla, I want vanilla---not vanilla and flowers! :P I hate berry-scented stuff too, and they seem to have an abundance of it.

I'm glad it works for you, and I know a LOT of women that love it. :)

12. I can definitely see why you'd want to smell good!
:D Being able to carry stuff with you helps a lot when idiot schools won't let you shower after PE. I remember those days in junior high, and I always carried a bottle of Charlie with me....

6. You sound exactly like my sister. She can't use anything with
perfume or scent in it because it irritates her skin very badly. I'm sorry it's that way for you too.

10. this site rocks
all kinds of everything, including handmade soaps. I love soaps... I think they are beautiful, and scented soap is so erotic. I'm not girly about much, but I loves me some prissy soap, lol.

13. Uh-oh.... you just got me hooked on a new site...
And I have to agree with you... great-smelling soaps are very erotic---and I find that to be true of the Alkmaar I mentioned. ;) My mother also got me hooked on www.ebubbles.com , so you might want to see it too.

Thanks for that great website! :D

11. I'm a creature of habit
Mom insisted on Zest - worked better with our hard water she claimed. 22 years after moving out, it's what I still buy.

Bar soap is far superior to the gels. Slippery little buggers getting dropped and all.

17. Soap: Dial Gold
Body Wash: Suave Sweet Pea and Violet

I use it to wash when I take a bubble bath. I also mix a little Suave Lavendar in there just to take the heavenly aroma to the next level and some Johnson & Johnson Baby Bath to tone the ph down so my skin can handle it.

You have me wanting to take a nice tub bath just for fun now. Ah, lovely thoughts. Relaxing.

19. Olive oil soap from Greece
Buy if from your local Greek food store: Cheap, long-lasting, great earthy smell, great for shaving, skin doesn't get dry.

It's all I've used for the past dozen years or so.

Mine in Vancouver had two brands, and I liked one much more than the other.

Good luck!
