UK girl kills herself because she can't watch reality show |
|
Odd story out of the UK where an 11 year old girl hanged herself because her mother banned her from watching "Big Brother." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=400099&in_page_id=17

2. That's sad and what is even sadder is that |
|
she hanged herself over the most boring, tedious season of BB ever.

and strange at the same time...
Maybe the girl had other problems she felt she couldn't share with anyone...

5. My first thought was mentioned in one of the comments. Maybe it wasn't |
|
supposed to go that far. Still though, if it was accidental, or she wanted to make a scene, then I suppose there would have been a commotion, so I guess I'm wrong.

Sounds like she had a lot more problems than a television show.

6. Yeah, kids don't kill themselves over a reality show |
|
It sounds like something else was at play.
And I've unfortunately heard the story all too often. They don't always act suicidal. Kids who end up committing suicide sometimes show no signs of suicide at all. They can be acting perfectly happy, filled with dreams, lots of energy, etc... And then the next day, kill themselves and sometimes leaving no explanation at all. They took whatever was bothering them and buried it deep.

As an addict myself, it has made for a convenient form of escapism. Just as expensive and addicting as illegal drugs, except it's legal.
And so are the messages being eminated from it. :(

11. I'm guessing there were deeper issues than the TV show. |
|
But, of course since it was the event that immediately precipitated this event, the media focuses on it.
