So I was on my way to losing weight. I run, jog rather. Now my left knee pops constantly - no pain, but it pops. I have read on the Internet that it's a case of runners knee.
Has anyone had runners knee? Will it ever go away?

1. Yea, everytime I increase my mileage it get it... |

...but luckily, it's not difficult to manage. I wear a runners strap. You put it just below your knee-cap, snug, but not so that it will cut of the circultion. It holds that tendon nice and snug, or at least so that it minimizes movement. Of course, after your run, ice it down for about 20 minutes or so. If that doesn't clear things up after a couple of weeks, you should perhaps look at different running shoes. I can help you in that regard if you'd like. Just ask. Hope all this helps.

2. Wow, I just bought new running shoes... |
|
They're a pair of Saucony's with an extra achilles arch grip. I went through about 20 pairs of shoes at the store before I settled on these. I wear a 10 1/2 narrow foot - women's.
I have heard of runners' straps. I dramatically dislocated my right knee last year in a freak accident at home. I went through physical therapy, etc. All is now well with the right knee. Now this left knee is acting up. I heard that if there's no pain, not to worry.
I also did leg weights yesterday - the knee popped during quad exercises but not during hamstring exercises. I found that odd.

3. Where did you purchase the shoes? |
|
If you're running any sort of distance, especially recovering as you are, you need to have the right shoes. I don't know where you are, but RoadRunnerSports will put you on a treadmill, look at how you run, measure your foot, do all the good stuff, and then recommend 2 or 3 different shoes for you. You may not have the right shoe for your gait. I've gone through 6 or 7 different pairs of this year until I found one that would let me do 30-35 miles a week without too much pain. It's impossible to overstate how much pain the wrong shoes can cause.

4. I went to a running store here in CO... |

called Foot of the Rockies. They specialize in running shoes. They didn't test my gait, though. I may need to go back. :( This is a fairly expensive fact-finding mission, in my opinion! I have very high achilles arches, too.
