Is anybody going to win the goddam National League West?
Is it theoretically possible for a "none of the above" option to somehow emerge in this so-called major league division? I mean, the *Dodgers* are back in front, with their "ace", a washed-up Greg Maddux...perhaps the NL West winner can play the International League champion first, to see who goes forward in the playoffs...

1. Dodgers are playing good ball.
And right now they deserve to be in first place. They didn't luck into it...they didn't stumble into it. They put a team together that's playing as a team and they're earning it, one game at a time.

And Maddux...washed up? This might be his final season and if it is, I hope to everything there is that the Dodgers make it to the Series. And win it. For Maddux, if for nothing else.

You watched him lately? The man's poetic. They don't call him "The Professor" for nothing.

(and I thought Penny was their ace)

:hi:

...Maddux has pitched well since coming to LA...but he wasn't pitching all that well in Chicago, and saying "a nearly washed-up Greg Maddux" doesn't help my polemic, does it? All credit to the Dodgers...though it is a little weird that that ancient team name, which had been out-of-date for decades when the team was still in Brooklyn, should still be around...LOL...maybe it's time for a new name...how about the LA Laidbacks?

3. Oh, man...
I wish I was at home. I've got this piece about all the different teams names. Tomorrow, when I'm home, I'll try to remember to PM it to you.
