In my old section, they gave somebody who was promoted there a cake, a dozen roses, and half the office called in to hear the supervisor wish congratulations.

when I left that section, after 10 years(?) I got nothing. And they knew about it for weeks. Nothing. No simple congrats or nothing.

I know in the grand scheme of things this shouldn't be important, but I did a lot of crap in that section,and all I got from abuse/bullying from certain people (now retired but there are a few bad people still there)

Intellectually I know this doesn't matter, but it still pisses me off.

lots of people have gotten promotions there, and I think they noticed (I heard a couple comments) about how things are done for some people and not others....

I have some great advice for you. It works.

Kill them with kindness and reasonableness. Recognize their needs. Talk to them about them. Be giving. Be positive. You can catch more flies with honey, rather than vinegar.
