She'll really love getting anything from outside of the US. The girls in her troop are already talking about what country they want to study for World Thinking Day in Girl Scouts. She'll lord this over everyone-even the girl who been bragging about going to Norway.

But I've been kinda pushing either the UK or Canada as their country to study this year. I think both would be easy for six and seven year olds to gather basic info about.

With the UK I could do a cutout of a double decker bus or something. With Canada-well, my brother is a huge hockey fan so lots of love for Canada in the house. He swears that he'll just give each of the girls a jersey to wear for the day.

The only problem I'm having with Canada is cooking. The girls cook something from their country of choice for their booth, make little swaps, etc that they sell for either a nickel, a dime or a quarter. All of the proceeds go to the local food pantry.

The hockey jersey joke is because they are supposed to dress as the residents of their country would. Since it's the same damn styles as the girls would wear here we've joked about just adding hockey jerseys instead of football jerseys with their jeans.

I love that idea.

Now I have to get the other girls onboard for the idea. They all want France so they can make pretty oils and sell them as perfume. They also want to make the Eiffel Tower out of popcicle sticks that they've personally "cleaned" themselves. Problem is, the older troops will take that country first.

IMO, the best booth last year was Ethiopia. China would be another choice for us since one of the mothers is originally from there.
