Kittens thrown in frying pan ("with pork chops and hot oil") in N.Y.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Five kittens thrown into a frying pan with pork chops and hot oil were recovering at an animal shelter Monday, and the man accused of scalding them was awaiting a court appearance.

The kittens, about six or seven weeks old, were injured Saturday when a visitor threw them into the cooking pan, authorities said.

The kittens suffered slightly burned skin and are expected to recover.

The resident of the apartment had left the kitchen, where he was cooking at the stove, when the kittens were scorched.

6. Do you know how the debristle them?
Hot steam or boiling water. They're generally still alive and feeling when that happens. It's really not so different, except as a matter of scale.

9. It is.
I saw footage a while back in a documentary called Earthlings, which I highly recommend, though with the caveat that it's more than a bit overwhelming and I'd encourage people to pause it when they need breaks.

Here's a link to watch it online. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3251419433163515470&q=earthlings

7. I've often felt that the penalty for deliberate cruelty to animals...
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 09:41 PM by mike_c
...should be a literal eye-for-an-eye. The perpetrators should suffer exactly the cruelty they commit, up to and including death in precisely the same manner. I would not actually support such a thing-- for the same reasons I don't support ANY capital punishment, cruelty notwithstanding-- but people who hurt pets try my convictions more than any other.

Why was this thread moved to the lounge-- since when is cruelty to animals strictly a Lounge topic?

Burning kittens, sheesh. Guess I'll just go play PS2.

I totally agree on the eye-for-an-eye by the way. When rehabilitation isn't possible, of course. :P

11. Boil the son of a bitch.
How the hell can anyone be that sick? Kill him. Now. There's no point in trying to rehabilitate him.

And LeftyMom, thanks (sort of) for that information about the pigs. I did not know that. Think I'll try to avoid pork from now on.

13. Did someone say "cognitive dissonance"?
"Kittens burned" = Outrage! (I agree, BTW...)

But:

"Kill the SOB. Now." = Great Idea!

:wtf:

And I believe Gandhi said that "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

14. I'm insane.
Cut me some slack. ;)

And I believe that people sick, twisted, and just plain evil enough to do things like this can never be rehabilitated. For the good of both humanity and the animals, people like that guy have to be killed. And while part of me wants the execution to be as slow and painful as possible, I'd settle for sticking a needle in the bastard's arm.

20. I don't think you're insane.
I had exactly the same first reaction-I wanted to fry him myself. I hate animal cruelty. What kind of a person does this? I can't imagine.

21. Sounds like the guy was either stoned out of his brain,
or a complete nutcase.

I love cats, but I don't want revenge, not after reading the article.

Something was very wrong with that guy.
