:bounce: I just got back. The builder and his crew are busy! They've cleared the driveway ... and found a HUGE (about 3-4 tons), beautiful stone that they're going to save for my landscaping. They've cleared out a spot for the house and staked it out. They're going to start digging the basement any day now! :bounce:

It's really happening! :woohoo: Sorry no pics yet -- I forgot to charge my camera's battery. But I'll go back with harleydad when he gets here this weekend and make sure the camera's ready.

Just finding a builder was a trick ... but I LOVE our builder! :loveya:

I will definitely take lots of in-progress pics. We did that with the last house and it was very interesting to look at them 12 years later. :bounce: I took a pic of the big rock with my cell phone, but I don't know how to get it onto my computer. :silly:

I know about the drinking thingie. Went out w/friends the other night and the place was offering Long Island Tea as their special drink, which is another drink that sounds intriguing. Good thing that I asked what was in it . . . tons of alcohol, and I was driving, so it was ice water for me.

If you were in Florida they might be using cinder blocks to build with so they could call it hurricane proof :scared: and charge you lots & lots more.

You're right about that ... and they put rebar in the cinder blocks and fill them with concrete. It is safer than a stick-built house, but you need to cover the windows or it won't do much good. I can't even imagine how much this house would cost if it was going to be reinforced concrete block. :scared:
