I want ice cream!
:9 There's none in the house. No ice cream. No cookes. No cake. No sweets at all. I was in town today and didn't buy any. It's called a "no fail environment."

But I WANT some! Why am I craving it all of a sudden?

1. I want to go to Dairy Queen...
and get a chocolate extreme blizzard right now. :(

Ah, but the nearest DQ is 12 miles away. :(

6. Oooo, that sounds good!
I was thinking more of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce ... nothing too heavy (it's a little warm out still). :9

5. One day, when my car broke down, and it was over 100 degrees
I didn't even mind (too much) because I had just stopped by DQ for a Blizzard. Now, it may sound silly, but I swear, my first thought (when my car stalled at an intersection) was, "At least I have my Blizzard." Silly, isn't it?

Oh, as for my car...it ended-up just being a .65 spark plug (though, the mechanic I'd taken it to, the first time, wanted to charge me $800.00 for new fuel injectors). I went through some tough times as a single gal.

Sad, isn't it?

I guess you can't call 911. Though, I would consider it an emergency!

28. I had a chocolate extreme blizzard earlier tonight.
1st one all summer and DQ is about 3 blocks from my house. I rode my bike there with my son, so count it as my exercise for the day! I'm sure it was nowhere near enough to burn all those yummy calories!:9

8. Sugar is as addictive as any drug.

Seriously.

I have to do the same thing you do, create a "no fail environment." (I like that term for it and I haven't heard it before; did you make it up?) It's hard to work through the cravings though, I know. I just try to find some way to distract myself. DU is good for that!

13. I know it is.
And it puts the weight on SO fast and messes with the adrenals.

No, I didn't make up "no fail environment." I read it in a book ... might have been Dr. Phil's weight loss book (can't remember the name). I'm SO bad if there are sweets in the house. It's not like I can eat a few and save some for later. I want them ALL! My grandma had a wicked sweet tooth and so does my mom. So I came by it honestly.

Good thing DU is here.

18. I went through a period where I did an internal detox

...(three month program. Whew! Difficult but v. effective) and eliminated all refined sugar from my diet and a lot of the naturally occurring sugars, too (cut down on fruit, etc.). Mixed results: It was the hardest thing I have ever done, diet-wise, but also the best I ever felt mind and body-wise. But yeah... I fell off that wagon pretty good. = hangs head =

I should really do that again.

(Where's the "consumed by guilt" smiley?)

22. I did a similar thing.
For about 2 months. But it was a little different. Only raw food -- fruits, vegetables, nuts, oils. My favorite snack was medjool dates stuffed with almond butter and brazil nuts and served with an apple. Oh, and I LOVED baby coconuts! I lost about 15 pounds and I was eating a ton of food. But it's very expensive (well, it was in FL) to eat that way. I've been doing a sort of modified version, but I will have something cooked occasionally.

What is it about that wagon? We feel good while we're on it, everything is cool ... so why do we fall off and then have trouble going back? I'm convinced that there are a lot of addictive foods, not just sugar.

25. The expense is a big part of the difficulty.

I try to eat organic produce whenever possible, but it's so much more expensive than the factory farmed stuff. :(

I'm interested in the raw foods diet. I've heard of it/them. Was there a particular diet or guide you used with respect to what you ate? Like a reference to make sure you were getting a good balance of nutrients? Or did you just kind of make it up as you went along? What did you do for protein?

Yeah, I don't get that "falling off the wagon" thing either. Frustrating as hell.

26. I got a book from here.
http://www.alissacohen.com Some of the recipes are good, some aren't. But she gives a lot of information about what to eat and what not to eat. Nuts are included, but you have to get them raw (they'll say "raw" on the package). She explains about how amino acids create protein in your body, and the best source of amino acids are leafy green vegetables.

These days, I do just make it up as I go along. I mostly eat fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, and avocados unless I'm cheating. That's actually a lot less expensive than making the recipes.

PS ... Sorry it took me so long to answer this. The DIY channel was showing a "home theater workshop" and I HAD to watch it. :silly:
