Do you ever type out replies and not post them? |
|
I think I do that as often as I actually post. More on days like today where I'm moody.

I might decide it's better not to post what I was going to post, or that it's just not worth replying to a particular post.

LOL...I'm a huge a-hole, and if I actually posted half the stuff I typed, most people would be chasing me with torches and pitchforks.

Even my best friend says it, that she loves me because I'm an asshole and a "bombthrower" as she puts it; she knows that anybody who has it coming is going to get cut down to ribbons, flawed logic and stupid arguments shall be annihilated.
In the DU Lounge, it's different. Not everything needs to become a nuclear pissing-match and it would be if I posted half of what I think sometimes. I save my vitriol for the occasional jaunt into GD. Those bastards (joking) make everything nuclear anyways.

Also on days when I am moody, I do it a lot. When I am tired, I do it even more. Sometimes I will make the mistake of going over to GD and almost bite into a flamewar, then decide not to. It's just not worth it.

13. I venture over there for that very reason |

It gets the need to flame and/or flamebait out of my system.

8. Not usually, my dear LeftyMom...... |
|
But I will consider pretty carefully which thread to post in........
It's rare that I decide I don't want to post something after having chosen one.......

Some days I don't get anything at all posted because I'm so busy re-thinking.
Seems to happen more when I'm moody, too. Either that or I go to the opposite extreme.

I guess I've always heard that saying from somewhere in which it is cautioned "think e'er you speak, for words, once uttered, once flown, are no more your own" :scared:

14. Frequently--almost as often as I post |
|
Usually it's because when I reread something, I don't think it says what I wanted to say. Or sometimes, I have something to say, but when I write it, it just dies, or it sounds like what everyone has already posted. Then there are the GD flame wars, where I just don't see the point. Long ago on DU you could have good, meaningful discussions (still heated, of course) in GD and expect to get good replies, even when they disagreed vehemently with you. Now it's just one great flame fest, where too many posters think that insults or numbers of posts decide arguments, rather than logic and evidence. So I type something, wonder what the point is, and don't post. Most of the time no one reads past the post title, anyway.

Sometimes I shouldn't post my reply, like when I got into a gun argument in GD while really drunk. It's best I confine my PUIs to the lounge.

some kind of post performance anxiety. Afraid to be mocked openly.
But another thing I do is type them out and just *forget* to hit post, and because I keep so many windows open at a time I lose track of what I'm doing and then when I go back to the thread I'm like "who the fuck deleted my post!"...It's a wonder I get anything posted.

I delete them because they are banal, but probably no more so than the ones I actually DO post.
I'm just really, really boring. Really.

19. Probably more than I post -- |

frequently much more. Although sometimes I use saved-material (a minority) later, or write something of a similar vein.
Percentage-wise, light-hearted stuff is probably disproportionately unposted. If I have something serious to say, then I'm not looking to create an effect; but a light-hearted post is meant to be taken that way, and so if I'm unsure of the (general) effect, then I usually don't post.
But I personally get a laugh out of it, which the writing/rewriting seems to extend.
But then, I get a laugh out of many things.
