Have they removed the high dive at your local pool?
They did at the pools around here, I'm guessing it's because of high insurance rights.

We haven't had them removed around here. But there's always next season...

2. No. We have two high dives. One goes into the diving well
for meets and the other is at the indoor pool.

I don't recall anyone getting hurt in the 15 years we've lived here.

3. I used to judge diving
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 06:32 PM by Katina
but now, any pool that doesn't have a specified diving tank has pulled out their board{s} due to the insurance. There are set rules on how deep the tank or diving area has to be and there are set standards on how big the diving area has to be in a multi-use pool. In otherwords, if the bottom inclines up along the sides or towards the shallow end too close to the board, then the pool will have to pull the board, even if it's just a one meter board. Thanks to our overly litigious society..kids don't even climb trees anymore.

oops...I think I just had a mini-rant here.

4. we have the board but you can only jump off
all the cases that caused the insurance companies to raise the rates? in lakes, not pools, and there were about 3 of them in 25 years.

5. That's too bad
It was a way to challenge us, growing up, and helped me overcome an irrational fear of heights. Now, I love heights...and I really attribute that, in part, to the high dive at my High School. Oh well, times are changing.
