I am thinking about getting satellite radio for my car but I can't decide which I would prefer. I know XM has Air America (and our local AAR SUCKS) but I can listen to that online too. They both look like they have a number of music stations I would like. Sirius has Talk Left (I am not sure who is on that) as well as NPR and other news stations. Maybe it will just come down to which one I can get cheaper.

1. I have SIRIUS - my son in law has XM |
|
Talk left is decent
I happen to prefer SIRIUS because of the college football coverage -
My son in law is a NASCAR fan, so prefers XM
I get 2 NPR stations on SIRIUS, btw
I don't think there is a whole lot of difference in the mjusic stations

2. I have SIRIUS strictly for the "World Radio Network" |
|
I love having all the news shows I used to have to listen to on shortwave like Radio Prague, Radio Sweden, Radio Netherlands, the BBC, etc. Some of the old stations like Radio Slovakia have even dropped their shortwave broadcasts and are now only on the internet and satellite.
I got the lifetime subscription, if it's still offered, for $400

4. I am thinking about Sirius |

It looks like they might have more stations I am interested in, especially the talk and news.

6. It's very good for both, talk and news |
|
But I'm real partial to the news versus the call in shows. There's also three NPR channels too. One thing I like about my SIRIOUS set-up is there's a radio transmitter in my receiver that I can go into another room and tune into a certain frequency and hear what's on the SIRIUS receiver. A friend of mine who has XM says his cannot do that. It also makes it more versatile and easier to use if you plan on using it indoors and in your car with docking stations for both.
