Is anyone else having trouble staying on DU today? |
|
I can barely get a post in before the window closes -- automatically. Just curious if this is just my computer ... ??

...update on my PC a couple days ago. are you using windows 2000? did you just do a windows update?
i'm finding netscape to be a bit more stable now than explorer but even it crashes from time to time.

6. The last Windows update broke something in IE. |
|
It was announced on the tech websites a couple of days ago. The problem can make it difficult to view certain websites. Until M$ issue a fix, the best thing is to use Firefox or one of the other browsers. Actually, it's usually better from a security standpoint to use something besides IE anyway.
You can get Firefox here: www.mozilla.com

7. I've had this problem too, since updating. |
|
I'm on 2000 & periodically, the computer will close my browser & any browser that was opened in the original browswer. Then it opens a fresh browser window & asks if I want to send a report to Microsoft. :eyes:

4. By 'the window closes', do you mean your browser... |
|
...shuts down? If so, there might be a problem with your browser. Try accessing DU with another browser (like Firefox or Opera if you normally use IE) and see if that solves the problem. Browsers can often be finicky about particular bits of code on websites, but the same bit of code doesn't usually affect two different browsers the same way.
I haven't had any problems posting on DU today.

10. Was having trouble also when I did the August MS updates, |
|
but I did a system restore and all is now OK. Forget this update. Have XP SP1 and must upgrade to XP2. Have great fear of what will go wrong on that one, Just posted a note about it on the Computer forum. After the August update, I kept getting the notice that this program is non-responsive and must close etc....Kicked me off and I had to reboot. Infernal machine.
