How many forclosures or "for sale" signs are you seeing?
The cute little cornfield-turned-"boom town" I live near now has quite a few "for sale" signs. For McMansions that were built as early as... 10 months ago.

:wow:

5. I see foreclosure notices in the newspaper......
every week and there's plenty for sale. Not much selling though and I know because we just sold our place and have been told by many how lucky we are. We're at the bottom of the economic pool here except for the rich summer people and the economic situation is NOT GOOD.

10. Foreclosures seem to be increasing (Nashville area)
Our economy hasn't taken any major hits as far as plant closings. In the past I would see one or two foreclosure notices in the newspaper. It is not unusual to see 10-20 published on a single day.
I think a LOT of people bought "the most home they could afford" and found out they couldn't afford it after all. I expect to see this trend to continue around here.

11. We've got a lot
Mountain town, Colorado. It's interesting, the zillion-dollar stuff is staying on the market, anything remotely affordable goes in like a day.

It's interesting because our little town council has been struggling with affordable housing stuff -- requiring every new development to include 10% attainable units, for example -- and yet now the only people making any money are the developers who went... small. :)

The annoying part is the damn free-market gurus saying I told you so.

12. My aunt and I got foreclosed on about
3 years ago. There are always numerous foreclosures here and it has been that way since NAFTA got passed into law. It has gotten worse under Chimpy though. I see so many on a daily basis, I don't count them any more.

15. Quite a few "For Sale" signs, lately
Our neighborhood started getting crappy when they upped the speed limit to 35, and turned my street into a drag strip. We complained to the city council (complete with DVD of 18-wheelers going by and buses doing 50), and the neighborhood associations also got in their face. I hope things turn around - we've only been here 15 months and really like this part of town.
