5 lousy Coca Colas a week. |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 11:45 AM by Beausoir
That's what I drink. About every other day I have one can of Coke...just one. Sometimes I don't even finish the whole thing.
I am starting a new nutrition plan and my nutritionist says I can't have one single can of Coke.
Bacon? No problem. Butter? Sure. Double latte? Yep. Deli meats? Yes.
Not even one single Coke.
I think she is nutso.
Edited to add: I am not really upset about it..I just think it's a little weird. Wine, butter, bacon...aren't those things supposed to kill you? But Coke?

1. Can in be due to acidity or constipation? |
|
Coke would aggravate those conditions.

5. No! I'm perfectly fine. Just needed a re-education about eating habits. |

2. Coke is nothing more than empty calories and excessive sugar |
|
Perhaps you can switch to one of the diet ones if you like the flavor. Sounds like she's putting you on a low carb diet, which for the first 2-3 weeks you pretty much give up most carbs but vegetables. The purpose is to get your body out of the rush of producing insulin every time sugar hits the system. Believe it or not - it's a valid request.
I've been doing South Beach and most the other stuff is ok that you mentioned except bacon has to be Canadian Bacon and I have to make sure the Deli Meats are low sodium (I don't eat deli meats - so no biggie)

11. Stick with what the nutritionist has to say |
|
Coke really serves no purpose other than a sugar/caffeine rush. If you can't switch to diet coke then just give it up. And I'm sure she has the pasta/bread/potatoes all in balance with the other food on your plan

9. I'll second that. If you want something sweet to drink, you should have |
|
Gatorade. That stuff will get you moving.

12. Probably. But the 5,000 carbs gives you enough energy to comfortablywalk |
|
9 holes after not eating anything all day.

3. Could it be because of the high phosphoric content? |
|
Which pulls calcium from the bones (not to mention the fact that it has a razy amount of high fruc)?

4. No offense, but your nutritionist is clearly smoking rock. |

Deli meats are some of the worst shit you can eat, on account of the nitrates and salt. Even most pro-meat health authorities will tell you that those things aren't safe in any quantity and shouldn't be a part of your diet. Any "nutritionist" who says you can eat them is a moran and needs to take a refresher class or three.
BTW, if there's a health food store in the area, they should have Santa Cruz Organics, Blue Sky and a few other brands of colas with real sugar. If you like one of those (or if there's someplace in the area that sells Mexican Coke with real sugar) that's a lot better for you than the HFCS in your cokes.

8. I should also add that she said I can drink wine. It's like..the ONLY |
|
thing I can't have is Coke.
I am thinking of rebelling!

13. No offense, but it kinda seems like you need to add a word to your |
|
vocabulary.
Try this: "WHY?" Use it with all of your medical contacts - in fact it's a good word to use throughtout life.

I love McDonalds coke and get one every weekday morning on my way to work (I don't drink coffee). I know it's empty calories and sugar and high fructose corn syrup and that I'd lose weight more easily if I didn't drink it but...I love it.
