The Yanks atop Mt Jackson - 2.4MB
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 05:04 PM by YankeyMCC
We spent a fantastic few days at Highland Lodge in Crawford notch and I just felt compelled to share this pic

On Edit: I don't know why the image isn't loading into the Post but perhaps that's best anyway

Here's the URL for the others then:

A rare calm and warm day on the summit of a 4,000 footer provides a great view of Crawford Notch and a nice spot for lunch : ?v=0

Next year I walk from the right side of the picture to the left, the following year my son will do it with me.: ?v=0

Dad and son bag another 4,000 footer: ?v=0

2. We go to Franconia twice a year
Sometimes three times. That is perhaps my favorite place in the world - or at least of the parts of world that I've lived in or visited.

4. Calm and warm on the summit of a 4000 footer in the Whites...

DEFINITELY a rare event. I don't think I have been to the summit of Jackson but I've been all around it. Nearly broke my jaw on the @@#@#@ Webster Cliff trail but it was great to be up on the side of the Notch.

on edit: there's a section of the ridge where you walk two steps down, then two steps up over a series of rocks. I lost my balance stepping down and fell head first into the next rock, taking it on the chin as it were. The whole jaw line was black and blue for weeks.

I miss climbing in the Whites. Haven't done it since I moved to the West Coast.

5. The Whites -
The "human" sized mountains :)

And I know what you mean about the Webster Cliff trail...that's a nasty one.
