Help! My son found two newborn kittens under his washing machine
on his 2nd story balcony. How they got there is a mystery, but anyway, I don't know how to care for them. I have a syringe and I have heated up some organic milk and I have given them a little of it. Beyond that, I don't know what to do. I have never had cats.

6. This seems like a possibilty
don't take the kittens away from the area. Animals very rarely abandon their young, I wish I could say the same of people.

10. Well they were under the washer and no mom insight so I had my
son bring them over here. The space under the washing didn't leave a lot of room for a momma cat to resuce them. I didn't know what to do and it is very hot on his balcony. I hope I am doing the right thing here. I am freaked!

13. Sorry I did not mean
to freak you out, I'm sure you will do the right thing. Just keep an eye out for mom, is all.

Bless you for caring about an innocent life.

17. Just be sure to put out a bowl of food for mom
in case she is super quiet when she returns. Some water for her too.

18. I'll tell my son to do that. He said he has never seen a cat around his
apartment. I didn't know what to do, one of the kittens was way under the washing machine. My son had to pick up the machine to get the little one out. I hope they make it. I tried to give them some formula, it's hard to do. They are sleeping right now.

7. If they are abandoned, they'll need milk replacer until they can eat food
Cow's milk will make them sick, because it doesn't meet thier nutritional needs. The milk replacer is like baby formula, not nearly as good as the real thing, but it'll keep them alive and probably healthy until they can eat real food. Also, like baby formula, it smells awful.

8. I called Petsmart and my son went to get a kitten feeding kit with
some formula so hopefully that will be good until I can get them to the Vet tomorrow. Thanks for your help!

9. Most likely their momma will be back looking for them soon.
Keep an eye out for her.

11. Get a pet nurser
and kitten formula from the pet store if the momma doesn't come back.

If the momma doesn't come back the info at the rescue site is terrific.

This little kitten was a few days old when someone left her in a box by the fence where my son teaches school. I took good care of her and found her a good home. She'll be a year old next week.

12. Many years ago when I was a kid...
our cat had a litter and the mother rejected the runt. My mother fed that runt regular milk from a turkey baster. The kitten thrived and eventually it was taken to the shelter for adoption with the others.
