What are your *random* favorite things? |
|
The smell of fresh basil
The way blueberries look at 6am, on the bush, covered in dew
The particular way in which fresh Mozzarella shreds and peels
The ocean breeze on my porch
Buying school supplies
My bf falling asleep on me while we watch a football game
Watching a thunderstorm move in from my porch
The way my dog kisses me when she sees me after a long time, and the way the other one likes to stand on his hind legs and slow dance
Clams spitting up at me when I walk near the ocean's edge at low tide
Oh, so many things...sigh :)

Pecan pralines and cream ice cream
A well-constructed lyric
Cool, foggy mornings
Being the first one out on a dew-covered golf course (ok so we were 2nd out this morning).
Taking a long drive in the Texas hills
My mom's cooking
My dad's laugh

It was a below-average day though. I can play much better. I'm in a tournament next week, I hope I got all my bad shots out of the way.

lamentation of their women.
The glint of moonlight on fresh fallen untrodden snow on a night with no clouds, especially on Christmas Eve.
Unexpected presents.
Thunderstorms - esp. the low pressure, dark windy period right before it.
Lightning.
Watching eagles, hawks, and cranes fly and eat.
Perfect-temperature days riding down the interstate with the top down and good music playing and no idiots on the road.
The feel of well-honed steel as it eviscerates my enemy, and the look in his eye when he realizes that it was I, Rabrrrrrr, who encompassed his doom!

17. You know, something dark and beautiful. |
|
Exquisitely heartbreaking.
I never feel so sorrowful, for example, as when I stand in the night with only the fragile glass of moonlight gilding everything. It is evanescent, and so terribly heartrending, and yet....it is glory, an orgasm in nature, a short cry and a rush of wonder as you plunge over the cliff to be greeted by the tears of the black sea beneath.

I love looking at the water that comes out of the washing machine. It goes into the sink making the filth from our clothes visible.. I like how such a simple operation can take us from filthy to clean.
I was going to say something about girls in the shower.. I think I will pass.

The smell of bookstores, especially older ones.
The eerie feeling of driving in the middle of the night when no one else is on the road.
The manner in which a towel folds just right on the first try :)
The open spaces I have now surrounding me at my home.
Shopping for cool notebooks, pens, and college dorm stuff.
The feeling of someone's arms around you lovingly
Waking up to the sound of thunder and rain on the roof
Knowing that there's something wonderful in the future.
Sitting in a coffeeshop and watching the snow fall around Christmas time in a big city (OK, the last one I've only imagined :P )

when horses 'whicker' (what I call the sound they make when they see their favorite human - they approach & make a deep-throated 'heh-heh-heh' sound)
splashing in puddles during/after a rain storm
the sound of the music from my hometown's 'wharf dance' as it lightly resonates across the harbor
the warmth of my godson's hugs when I see him, and that his one-time 'wub-you, aunniie' is getting ever-closer to a 'love you, auntie'
chocolate jimmies (that's 'chocolate sprinkles' to the unanointed
when my mom's corgi makes figure eights in the freshly fallen snow
when my cats started trilling at the people who walk by my city apartment (whereas they used to trill at birds & squirrels when we lived in the suburbs)
the fresh smell of a newly-decorated christmas tree

The first strawberries of the year, rinsed off with the hose & eaten in the garden while the warm juice drips down my chin.
Seeing my daughter's car pull into the driveway. She doesn't live here so I don't see it often enough.
A warm bed in a cold room.
Putting on a coat for the first time in the fall & finding the $20 I left in the pocket last spring.
Random acts of kindness.
Lazy days when I don't take my pjs off until bath time that evening.
Summer rain showers when the sun is shining.
Long drives in the country with a stop at the old store where cokes are on ice in a metal bucket.
A handwritten letter delivered in my curb side mail box.
