Zeppelin fans: Top 10 favorite LZ songs of all times
Edited on Wed Aug-23-06 11:15 AM by LynneSin
I'm one of those quirky fans that love some of the obscure stuff more than the mainstream. My top #10 would be:

  1. Ramble On
  2. What is and What Should Never Be
  3. Misty Mountain Hop
  4. The Rover
  5. That's the Way
  6. Over the Hills and Far Away
  7. In the Evening
  8. Night Flight
  9. Your Time is Gonna Come
  10. Kashmir

BTW, ask me this question again in 2 weeks and it's very likely that #1 & #2 will swap - I just adore those 2 songs

4. I love In The Evening because....
...the first time I got to see anything Zeppelin related was Robert Plant back in the summer of 88 at Hersheypark. He opened with that song and the beginning has this mystical feeling to it that was extended just a bit for the concert to warm up the crowd. Then when you break into the song you find out it's really just a great rocking song

5. That intro is really atmospheric...
Makes me picture a middle-eastern skyline (with onion domes, etc.) silhouetted against an orange sunset.

24. You Sure About That?
It sounds like 5 parts, but a lot more tracks than that. Some of those tracks sound multed 3 or 4 times. I would have guessed they used at least a dozen guitar tracks on that song!

10. I could seriously never do what you do. I love Zeppelin and
the Beatles so much, it would be like choosing which one of my loved oned I love the most. I play Zeppelin's music all the time, and still find it fresh. And I listen to just about everything they did. I really couldn't choose.

16. Dancin Days and Gallows Pole
Very underrated, and both sound even better now than they did then. They're the main reason I can listen to Zep again after so many years of them being overplayed.

23. Out On The Tiles Is On My List
But, a lot of mine would be the same as yours. I would not have Ramble On in my Top 10 though. Doesn't do much for me.

I might add 4 Sticks, too, and take off Night Flight. That one is good, but i could kick it out of the top 10!

27. Ramble On is definitely my favorite LZ track
I love the yearning quality of it.
Otherwise I think the only change to your list, Lynne, would be to include "Going To California" somewhere on there.
