Question on online resume posting |
|
I have a question about resumes – mainly regarding posting an online resume to monster.com (or similar), but also to resumes in general.
For an online resume, most sites now allow you to directly upload a Word document, which is nice. Of course, the formatting always falls apart and you need to manually go into the upload document and re-format it.
But, how much detail should you put in an online resume, specifically related to your current position and prior jobs? Should it be a one-page Word document worth of information, or maybe 2-3 pages worth?
I know the standard for a hard copy of a resume has changed over the years, bouncing between more and less detail, but I am not quite sure what it should be for an online resume?
And, what is the standard for a hard-copy of a resume these days – is it a detailed 2-3 page one, or should it be more of a 1 page summary?
Thanks for any help.

2. From what I've noticed: |
|
My husband has his resume at online places.
Apparently when a head hunter looks at it on line, it is a very strange format and hard to decipher.
They always email and ask for it to be sent to them directly so they can read it.
Based on this, I would say that you might as well post the whole thing--if someone sees something they like, they will contact you.

4. When I get a call from anybody online |
|
Not just headhunters, but also HR people in various industries, they will inevitably ask me to send them a Word copy of my resume.
