Post your favorite Sniglets (words that aren't in the dictionary but
should be)

Mine:

Cheedle: the orange stuff that sticks to your fingers when you eat Cheetos

Accordionated: the ability to drive and fold a road map* at the same time

but my fave:

Ignisecond: the instant of time in which your hand slams your car door as your brain screams, "My keys are in there!"

Your favorite Sniglets? Let's have 'em!

* For the youngsters: We used to navigate while driving by using maps printed on very large sheets of paper. They were carefully folded when new, to about the size of a slice of pizza (if it were rectangular), but hard to fold back together again. You're spoiled with your GPS! ;)

1. Stunment
I know astonishment is close, but there's a fine line between being astonished and being stunned.

2. OMG, I had forgotten all about sniglets!
I remember Rich Hall doing the Sniglets feature on 'Not Necessarily the News' back in the early '80s.

I'm trying to remember the term for the black, crusty stuff that collects around the top of the ketchup bottle...

And there was one that meant 'the fear of being scalded to death in the shower'... hydro-thermo phobia or something

4. Keep this kicked!
I still have a Sniglets book. I have to hunt for it and it's getting close to beddy-bye time now. Maybe we can do a quiz from the book tomorrow, eh?

I really loved NNTN!

6. The Meaning of Liff
Douglas Adams (who wrote Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) collaborated with a colleague on this Sniglets-like book. The idea was that there were concepts in human discourse that needed words, and there were also all these otherwise idle words wasting their time on maps and road signs and such, so they figured out what all these place names would mean if they were actual dictionary words.

My favorite was "Zeerust," a town in South Africa, which they defined as (from memory, possibly wrong) "That peculiar quality of datedness that inheres to things that were originally designed to look futuristic."
