A couple of months ago I put a newspaper pic of Bush up there, and I seem to have lost weight since then. I didn't alter my activity patterns or go on a health food kick -- but I know I've dropped at least that much (haven't weighed myself this week yet) and not only was I able to put on a pair of pants from pre-2001, but my co-workers asked me if I was on a diet or something, even though I didn't mention the weight loss to them.
By some weird coincidence, it's about the same amount of weight that Bush himself seems to have gained, between physicals. From the scientific perspective, I would have to reluctantly discount the (otherwise delightful) theory that I was somehow able to wish my fat cells onto him. So the only explanation I have is that the revulsion I feel when I look at the guy (and I know I'm not alone in this) is keeping me from hanging around near my fridge ... and possibly putting me off my food, so I'm less tempted to snack.
I would like to thank the DUers who have brought this new photo of George W. Bush to my attention this week -- it's bound to be an effective replacement for the previous pic, and might enable me to lose another 5 lbs. by Thanksgiving!
