Limbaugh predictions for the upcoming season of Survivor *gag*

Limbaugh handicapped races in new Survivor series, suggested "African-American tribe" worst swimmers, Hispanics "will do things other people won't do"

On the August 23 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio program, Rush Limbaugh suggested that the competition in a new season of CBS' reality TV program Survivor, in which contestants are reportedly divided into competing "tribes" by ethnicity, "is not going to be fair if there's a lot of water events." In support of this assertion, he cited a March 2 HealthDay article reporting that "young blacks -- especially males -- are much more likely to drown in pools than whites."

During the program, Limbaugh suggested that "people at CBS" are "scratch their heads" and asking whether "the swimming portion" of the new Survivor competition is "going to be fair." When pressed by an African-American caller to identify "hich team ... would be the worst swimmers and why," Limbaugh stated that "the white tribe would be the best swimmers" based on the performance of white athletes at "the Olympics." After apparently disconnecting or cutting the volume level of the caller, Limbaugh said: "ou're saying I'm being racist because I'm saying blacks can't swim." He further protested: "I mentioned the swimming comment only because it's not going to be fair if there is a lot of water competition in this. It just isn't. It is not a racial or racist comment at all."

3. Wow
I'm speechless.

About halfway through that, I had to double-check that I was really reading Media Matters and not The Onion.

6. Because even if you don't care about Survivor or Limbaugh
(which I feel the same way), I do care that he is perpetuating these dumbfounded stereotypical and racist comments that have been made forever.

Anybody can swim as long as someone can give them a few lessons. Hell, my apartment's swimming pool is filled with children of all sorts of backgrounds and they swim better than me even though I've been trained in swimming all the way through lifeguard.

8. Again with the "Black Men Can't Swim" crap?!
Honest to Pete. The repuke twerp who's running for Katherine Harris' seat in Congress said much the same thing, on the campaign trail, no less. OxyMoron must have picked up on it from him.

In Florida's 13th congressional district race, for the seat being vacated by Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL), Republican front runner Tramm Hudson (R) is the latest politician to make unforunate comments caught on amateur video. Said Hudson:

"I grew up In Alabama, and I understand, and I know this from my experience, but blacks are not the greatest swimmers or may not even know to swim."

Is this in the KKK's blast fax for this week or something? :eyes:

willing to disavow him. There has got to be at least one somewhere that would be willing to tell him to STFU.

12. I can laugh at political humor if it's funny, even if I don't agree w/ it.
This just isn't funny, though. What passes as humor for Republicans never ceases to amaze me.

I heard a joke a while ago from obvious Republican southerners where the punchline had to do with a Katrina "parasite" was too busy waiting for a handout to rebuild his home, and the guys that were laughing about this were really laughing hard about it. So I told them a joke about Republicans being willing to make exceptions when they knock up their sisters, and the store manager had to break us up. The thing is that I didn't think my joke was funny, either, but it amazes me how narrow-minded these people are.
