Guess I need to start locking my door. |
|
Generally when I want to run to the store real quick, I don't bother locking my door. There's just very little crime in our town, and I quit being paranoid over the last couple of years.
But tonight... I went to the store at the usual time ( I almost always go around 10:30 pm... or 4pm) to get dinner stuff. Took my time getting what I needed for a fruit salad. Even taking my time I was only gone 15-20 minutes. And when I got back, I noticed my dog had gotten a hold of something and tore it up. I was about to scold her when I noticed that this was something odd for her to have gotten into... It was a pissy diaper.
I only know one person with a baby. He is a good friend of mine, who I called right away (after a frightened search of my apartment, of course)... asked him if he had perhaps stopped by while I was gone, needing to change his son right quick... (although even if that were the case, my garbage can is under the sink, not in the open... so even that wasn't a good explanation). He said no, asked what was wrong, I told him the story and he said he would stop by later...
There are however some teenagers in my apartment complex who have a problem with me and my neighbor... we both do work for the complex and we have both had to report to the management about one of these kids. I think it was him or one of his little friends. That's the only explanation I can think of that would make sense... they are outside ALL the time this time of night.... one of them had to have seen me leave, and someone checked my door and threw a pissy dirty diaper into my livingroom and fled before I could come home. I can't think of anything else.
At first I was really scared. Now I'm just really kind of pissed off. Think I'm going to go to the gas station and pick up some beer. (And lock my door this time, of course. Sigh.)

3. Um, I really think you should always lock an empty house. |
|
Even if you live in a town of like 15 people. You just never know. It only takes 2 seconds. I can't imagine leaving my house unlocked. There are too many freaks in the world, not to mention pranksters like the ones that probably got you.

There are some really sick people out there and some cowards will hurt people by hurting their pets

We always lock our doors. It just feels safer that way.
