Sirius is approaching 6 million subscribers |
|
Sirius is closing in on XM. Check out these subscriber numbers.
XM - 7,121,543 Sirius - 5,900,234
We'll hit 6 million in no time and the Nascar switch will be another big jump while being a hit to XM. Beating their subscriber numbers by the end of the year seems do-able to me all the sudden. 9 months ago, I knew Howard was going to make a huge difference but never did I think Sirius could overcome XM in 1 year. It's simply amazing and I'm proud to be a part of it.

2. I just slowed them down a tiny bit from their goal |
|
Just cancelled (and blogged about it here in the Lounge). They were really good about it.
We just never used it enough to justify spending the $13/month. Cancelling that will offset most of the cost of upgrading our cable to HD for our new TV.

4. How is the Sirius classical channels? |
|
XM has three classical channels and they all suck. They won't play all three movements of a piece, they just play one movement from one, then another movement from some other symphony... it's more like a Ronco album than a proper classical station.

XM and Sirius are both losing major money, neither one is close to breaking even. There really is no benefit in one over another, particularly if you think, like I do, that Stern is a massive waste of time. And the salary he is getting is obscene.
There is room for two satellite providers in this industry, and it is healthy to have both, but it is a limited, niche business.

8. Howards salary is not publically known |

The $500 million BUDGET for Howard and everything under his banner including his and his employees salary is clearly, unless you're a complete business retard, worth not being utterly destroyed by XM as they would have been had Howard not joined them.
