I am so glad I am a rich social worker.
Two of my elderly folks have quad canes. The pads are so worn they are barely usuable and I cant stand it. I am going to replace them out of my own pocket. In my town we have private adult homes and the people that run them are only in it for the cash.

2. I'm sorry you have to do that.
But I'm glad you're compassionate enough to do it.

3. Not that you need it, but you will buy a little bit of self esteem
with that:toast:

4. Buy one set of four pads + four tennis balls.
Put the proper rubber feet on the front, and tennis balls on the back ones.

I dunno why, but many of the elderly people I work with do that.

5. I would do that if they had walkers.
But these are quad canes.

7. I work in human services
I've purchased things for my clients more than once over the years because the pittance the government gives them in 'benefits' doesn't cover all of their needs. I make so little I have to work two full-time jobs to get by but I still make more than they do.

9. Kudos to you.
Your heart won't let you ignore your client's rights to comfort and dignity.

"Overpaid" like you, I've been known to buy sheepskins and lotions for bedsores and other 'frivolous' items for my clients. It's impossible not to do such things when you see sick and alone people suffering even more because they're also poor. Programs for the elderly, like the one I work with, while good on many levels, lack true common sense in addressing anything not specifically covered in the 'rules'. IMHO, knowing when and how to bend the rule is part of the hallmark of a good social worker.
