I'm hoping that I can make my job last until Thanksgiving...
Things have been slow here at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging. I used to come to work and I was busy from the moment I got here until I left...I loved it. The past 3 days I have come to work I have had about an hour of work total! I can't see them paying me to sit on my ass much longer.

Anyhow, I have to have a medical procedure in November that will keep me out of work about two weeks. If I can hold on, I will get paid while I'm out. If I get laid off before that, I'm screwed.

Keep your fingers crossed.

1. I wish only the best...
you work for WB? Whats the story on Superman Returns, if you know anything abou it that is, concerning a sequel...I'm a fan, and there has been a TON of rumor about a sequel not coming...if you know anything, or if you can enlighten me, I sure would appreciate it...

I also hope your procedure in November goes without complications, I dislike hospitals/clinics a lot...:scared:

3. I had not heard that.
I will do some asking around and see if I can found out anything for you.

I know that the movie didn't do as well as they had hoped.

Thanks for the well wishes! I dislike hospitals, also.

5. Thanks
I know the movie isn't doing well at all, financially...almost 195 mil, domestic, about 165 world wide...heard rumors, unless it reaches 200 mil domestic, the sequel is flushed down the toilet, again, thanks! :hi:

6. Hey -- where are you from in Alaska?
I lived on Adak in the middle of the Aleutians with my family for two years -- my father was career military.

13. Oh yeah...we got some serious storms!! Lots of wind!
Adak never got hot enough to go without a sweatshirt -- even in the summer. I got to go to Anchorage with the Little League All Star team and you would have thought that we were in the tropics. We were running around with our shirts off because to us it was so warm.

Adak was a very fun place to live as a kid -- lots of places and things to explore.

9. hello...
I will be hoping for your job to hold out. Sorry about having to have a medical procedure...as I was picking up yet another round of medical records, I have decided I even hate the smell of Hospitals and doctors offices, old, new, whatever. Is there anyway you can have the procedure moved up? If not, look into your COBRA laws. Even if they let you go before the procedure is done, you can cobra the insurance. You will probably have to pay the monthly premium, but it's better than paying the bill out of pocket. If you have any questions about cobra...

10. If you have to go the COBRA route
be prepared for sticker shock. I was paying $530 for just myself until I got married. (Worth it since I had about $40K to $50K in medical bills that year.) When my husband switch jobs, we had a one-month gap. It cost us $920 for ONE freakin' month. We're very lucky that we could do it

I'm uninsurable on the open market and we both have pre-existing conditions, so a gap in coverage is not an option as they will not cover things for months or up to a year, depending on the policy.

As to the original OP, start trimming expenses now to build as big of a cushion as possible. Act as if you've already lost the job and start looking for a new one. Is there any way you can move up the procedure? Why do you have to wait so long? I went to the University of Chicago Hospitals for surgery and said I had a wedding scheduled and they got me in in about five weeks.

11. My procedure is for a condition of the eyes.
I have what is called a "Choroidal nevum" on the retina of my left eye. It is like having a freckle that may or may not be malignant. The problem with having this in the eye is, they cannot biopsy it. They treat everyone as if it is cancer. My oncular opthalmologist (one of the top guys in the world) told us that there is a very, very low chance of it metastasizing. Once it starts to change, though...they treat it. I will either be treated with a laser, which won't keep me out very long; or they may use radiation which would keep me out a couple of weeks. The thing that sucks is that I will lose the central vision in my left eye.

I am waiting until November because I see this doctor every four months. He is in San Francisco and we live in Los Angeles. Last time I saw him he said he could treat it then, or if we wanted to wait four more months, he was fine with that.

It is not certain, but I have a feeling he will be treating it when I go back in November.
