Ok I now have to admit that ...Leonardo DeCaprio is a very good actor...
I thought "Gangs of New York" was a fluke...but just saw "Aviator" for the first time and thought he did an outstanding job there as well...

I will no longer bash the man!

4. I love Leo.
The environment is very important to him---he has attempted to make global warming a huge issue to the world. Highly respectable.

5. I was loathe to admit it at first, but he's very good.
I have an initial distaste for any actor who gets a lot of "pretty boy" buzz, but DiCaprio delivers a good performance in most of his movies. Same with Brad Pitt. After a few movies, I realized that he was a quality actor too.

6. He is good, I agree. I want to dislike him just because
(and also just because he's kinda ugly) but every time I see him act I forget my hangups and really enjoy his work.

8. You need to see What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
He is unbelievable in it. Even better than Johnny Depp was, and he should have won an Oscar for his roll in the movie.

It was difficult to wrap my mind around that fact that it was Leo.

One of the best acting performances i have ever seen.

13. Saw a lot of his work before Titanic, so I've known that for a long time
And he was so young to be so good. Loved him in "This Boy's Life" with DeNiro, and he was great in 'Gilbert Grape' too. When "Titanic" came out. everyone started hating him and/or not giving him a chance. I hated that movie, but I knew that he was an excellent actor despite Titanic. I can't wait to see the new Scorsese movie that he's in; I think it's coming out later this year.

14. He is quite good...dare say, "underrated?"
Maybe underrated isn't the right word, because he is such a high profile "movie star." But I don't think he gets enough credit for his acting talent. This Boy's Life, The Basketball Diaries, Gangs of New York, and The Aviator are all good examples of his talent. I like Leo!

21. HATED THE AVIATOR....HATED IT, USING THE WORD HATE.
Man that is one movie that doesn't hold up at all. And that corny Kate Hepburn impression!! "How-aaahd! How-aaahd, open the door!" The only thing I liked was her clothes & makeup which IMO won the Oscar.

How can they tell such an interesting story and make it so dull.

22. Romeo, Romeo, He Was The Best Romeo!
Loved that role for him -- and Gilbert Grape, what a classic. He was good in "Titanic" which I otherwise loathed.

23. I think he is a very talented actor, BUT
he's traded on his personal life too much for me to think much of him as a person.

24. haven't heard much from him lately
as far as his personal life goes, I'll take Leo any day over someone like Lindsay Lohan who is nowhere near as talented yet dominates the news with her pathetic offscreen behavior
