Flights out of Newark delayed for weather? 5PM EDT Sunday

What gives? All I see on the maps all across the US is a little rain. FLights west to Syracuse and south to Charlotte delayed for at least 2 hours.

1. Well, there are pretty big storms headin' through the area.

They have to take into account drops in air pressure, lighting, and all that.

I'm used to seeing a lot of red and orange on the local radar before I consider it bad. All that green just looked like plain old rain to me.

2. I'm 15-20 miles from Newark.

It's been raining like hell here all day. Sometimes hard enough to seriously affect visibility.
