Next door neighbor's. Lucy is a smallish female mostly-beagle. Cute as a button. Does our 3-mile walk with us every morning.
We've had a dog for over 30 years, but when our last one departed we declared a moratorium, so to speak. We're retired and travel a lot now.
Lucy is ideal. She is very affectionate and gentle. Great with kids. Sitting by my feet right now.
Guards our house and driveway as well as her owners'. Sounds off when anyone approaches. Even for me, sometimes. HEY LUCY! I LIVE HERE!
If she's out when a thunderstorm approaches, she knows she can hole up here. Yeah, she can sleep on the bed, too.
When her "parents" are out of town, she moves in. And we don't have to board her when we're on the road.
The BEST dog is the next-door-neighbor dog. :-)

She's kind of like a Granddog. You get all the benefits without all the downside!

so a retired neighbor comes over to get him and they hang out all day- doing errands, gardening...good company for both. Bogie has an interesting day, stays with his parents at night, and gets to do stud duty every now and then on the weekends.
