Forrest goes to the movies
Elvis movies, that is... :D

Part of me wishes Elvis had never found himself trapped in Hollywood but, darn it, some of those songs are still undeniably catchy (and, truly, some really were actually good by any measure). I really love some of these '60s movie songs -- I've been itching to play around with songs like "Long Legged Girl" and the self-duet of "Kissin' Cousins," 'cos they're such fun to do -- and here're my attempts at some of 'em for anyone who wants to listen to any of them:

Charro! (1968, from Charro!) MP3 - 4.04 MB; 2:52)
You've run a race with life and death, but will you live to see tomorrow?...

Almost (1968, from The Trouble With Girls) MP3 - 2.84 MB; 2:01)
We almost shared a dream...we almost made it as a team...how nice it would have been...

All I Needed Was The Rain (1967, from Stay Away, Joe) MP3 - 2.58 MB; 1:50)
Hello, misfortune, how's my old friend, Mr Misery?...

Your Time Hasn't Come Yet, Baby (1967, from Speedway) MP3 - 2.61 MB; 1:51)
But, when it does, your heart will know...

Long Legged Girl (With The Short Dress On) (1966, from Double Trouble) MP3 - 2.13 MB; 1:30)
I just can't rest 'til I make her mine... :hi:

Girl Happy (1964, from Girl Happy) MP3 - 3.06 MB; 2:10)
First nurse ever rocked my cradle made me jump for joy...

Little Egypt (1964, from Roustabout) MP3 - 3.40 MB; 2:25)
Little Egypt came out struttin' wearin' nothin' but a button and a bow...

Hard Knocks (1964, from Roustabout) MP3 - 2.46 MB; 1:44)
Some kids born with a silver spoon, I guess that I was born a little too soon...

Kissin' Cousins (1963, from Kissin' Cousins) MP3 - 3.13 MB; 2:13)
Yes, we're all cousins, that's what I believe, because we're children of Adam and Eve...

I Need Somebody To Lean On (1963, from Viva Las Vegas) MP3 - 4.07 MB; 2:53)
And, when I'm lonely, if someone would only wanna be sweet and kind....

Vino, Dinero, Y Amor (1963, from Fun In Acapulco) MP3 - 2.69 MB; 1:54)
With wine on your lips and money in your pocket, your sweetheart in your arms, you're rich as you can be...

I Don't Wanna Be Tied (1962, from Girls! Girls! Girls!) MP3 - 2.95 MB; 2:05)
The field of love is wide, and I don't wanna be tied...

Beach Boy Blues (1961, from Blue Hawaii) MP3 - 2.91 MB; 2:03)
Like a pig before he gave his all the luau, I'm in the pen...

Almost Always True (1961, from Blue Hawaii) MP3 - 3.34 MB; 2:22)
I was always, baby, I was always...well...almost always true to you...

Shoppin' Around (1960, from GI Blues) MP3 - 3.29 MB; 2:20)
Gonna stop shoppin' around, 'cos I found the girly I'm lookin' for...

GI Blues (1960, from GI Blues) MP3 - 3.78 MB; 2:40)
Got those hut-two-three-four, occupation GI blues...

8. Well, the end song is pretty cool, but I won't spoil the ending for you
I mean, other than mentioning the shootout with a SWAT team.

Do The Clam

10. I love "Wolf Call"
It fits well with what I do now, too. :D

Talk about Girls! Girls! Girls!...

Yeah, some of those tracks are spot on, but consistency leaves something to be desired...some are way off. The movie-song ones tend to be really good, especially.

I wish I had one for "Dominick." I drove a van full of research assistants 11 to 13 hours to the Florida Keys once while breaking into "Dominick" every few minutes, at times. My brother was one of my helpers on that one and he started it because he mentioned his then bro-in-law, a dude named Dominic. 'twas enough to get me started with my 750-mile marathon of "Dominick." It's just such a catchy stupid song, no matter how dire... :-)

If I ever find a track for "Dominick," I'll post a 12-hour loop of it here for everyone to marvel over...

Hey, on those long drives you've got to do what you've got to do to maintain focus.

14. The backing tracks
sounded like my place when I taught my parrot how to wolf whistle.

For weeks on end, that's all I heard. I had no idea I could have rented him out.

It is a great song. :hi:

12. Hi, honey, I'm home!
Just in time for you to go to work, probably. :D

And of course I've got your "Suspicious Minds" -- this time my take of the studio version -- because we both know that we can't go on together without "Suspicious Minds" :P

I hope it's a great, great day for you...

And thank you!
