Seriously, I haven't heard of that one in a while. I remember one of the nurses recommending it when I worked at the Mississippi State Hospital.
Mind posting it or giving a link?

6. Why the cabbage soup diet? |
|
A diet like that won't keep weight off in the long-term.

15. I've done it for two to three days. |
|
It's more a boost to your self esteem, showing that you can do it in the difficult first couple of days. Works similar to doing a juice fast first and then starting a regular diet.
You weigh yourself, see that you've dropped a couple of pounds and sometimes it motivates you to carry on.

18. Well I managed to lose twenty in the first 3 weeks of my diet |
|
and this one has me not very hungry at any given time so I suppose that is a good thing.
But I am scared I am going to plateau...what happens then?

40. I used to use cabbage soup as a boost. |
|
I'd follow a sensible diet (Weight Watchers really is one of the best out there) and whenever the loss would slow down I'd make a pot of cabbage soup. I'd substitute my snacks with the soup, maybe my dinner and, when I actually hit the plateau I'd go on it for no more than 4 days max, then back to my regular diet.
It can break you over the hump or get you initially motivated to start but shouldn't be for long term.

|
but the only recipes i have seen call for it to be simmered with a smoked meat. The meat is removed but somehow i think this is probably not what you had in mind.
Some people use sauerkraut when making sour cabbage soups. Personally, i like to use whole leaves from soured heads in my recipes.
Oh, now i want sarma. :-(

23. dashi no moto and miso? |
|
From reading that recipe, I seem to come to the conclusion that any vegetable based soup is going to do the same, so go get a bag of really good miso and some dashi no moto (asian grocery, Japanese section) and some random green vegetables.
You can make a hell of a lot of vegetable soups that don't have fat or calories. Any soup cookbook will have them.
I spent a month living on miso soup and greens one year ( very poor and miso was cheap protein) and felt great and lost a decent amount of weight.

34. Highly fermented soy... |
|
It's ground in a paste then fermented with salt and usually something else (rice, barley, etc.) It's about 12 calories per tablespoon.
I'm a fan of white miso myself (red's okay.)

I've had miso soup with cabbage in it, and the cabbage forms a broth that competes with the miso is a really bad way. x(

Huh. I don't notice any issues, but then again, I use either Nappa or Chinese cabbage exclusively. European cabbage is an express route to a gall bladder attack for me.
