I listened to the samples of Paris Hilton's CD at ITunes and I can |
|
say with absolute confidence she doesn't measure up to Claudene Longet as a singer. I have no idea how well she shoots, does anyone know?

1. Maybe it's all the hype about her... |
|
Or maybe it's the trashy image of herself that she presents to the world; but I find myself steering as clear as possible of anything she is associated with. :puke:

2. I'd steer clear of the CD indeed |
|
I went into it with an open mind because I like some Britney songs and Madonna, but instead of being fun, it's very annoying.

5. I didn't help you any by misspelling Claudine. Actually there is |
|
quite a bit of her stuff on Ebay. Some of it is in mono, which used to be a music format as well as a disease.

She has said some very stupid things, but so has most everyone. She is very wealthy, and that naturally creates envy and suspicion. But by the same token, sometimes people grow and change and do important things, so I am not forming any kind of negative or overly positive opinion either way about Paris Hilton. I'm definitely not a "fan", but I think it's shortsighted to count her out.

We don't know any of these "celebraties" really, though the tabloids would like to make us think we do, thanks to them.

6. Her first single is actually not bad |
|
it has a catchy beat. The lyrics and vocal skills are not great but it gets me bopping my head. I'm ashamed that I actually like that song but I love any song with a good beat.

The studio does wonders for some people and then you hear them live and they sound like shit.

on the Howard Stern show made that comparison in passing, but Howard has been playing cuts from her album and the general consensus--and I concur--is that it is not very good, and that the producer/engineer and mixers deserves a lot of credit for the technical accomplishments of the album. I just offer that for what it is worth. I'm neither a fan nor a detractor so far as Hilton is concerned, but I thought the tracks were embarrassing except for one whose name I don't know that I rather liked. There's a Rod Stewart cover ("D'ya think I'm sexy?") that is horrifying.

apparently thinking along the same lines. I am tempted to dig my ancient Claudine Longet album out just to see if my recollection of her voice is correct. That being that if Paris had a French accent she'd sound a lot like Claudine.

in synchronicity in thinking about this issue.
Paris is already thinking about her next album--we'll see how that pans out.

I've always really liked Robin because she is so intuitive. Her side comments clarify Howard--she can read people like a book, so she is like the candle that illuminates the cavern.

Fans blind to Hilton album From correspondents in London August 30, 2006 04:12am
PARTY princess Paris Hilton's fledgeling career as a pop star is reportedly tanking already - and her inability to sing live means it could be terminal.
Hilton's debut album, Paris, only sold 75,000 copies in the US in its first week, with the projected figure for next week just 30,000, the New York Post reported.
The hotel heiress's first single, Stars Are Blind, is languishing at No.49 in the US Billboard Hot 100, and limped in at No.29 in the UK.
Another problem is that she will not be touring to promote the album because she cannot sing live, the Post said.
The album is all studio - nothing amazing
When will her 15 minutes be up???

25. They were playing the CD in a local music store. People were... |
|
...liking what they heard, I was told by the cashier, but when their question "Who's that?" was answered, their interest quickly dissipated.
(And then they went home to admire their Kinkade prints, perhaps.)
