Gah! My Jeep is fucking dead.
The fucking thing won't start. It turns over, but it doesn't start. Tommorow I'll have to get it towed down to the gas station, but it really sucks not having a car here. There is nothing at all within walking distance and I'm in the process of trying to track down a job.

There's never been a problem with the Jeep until now. It has seen it's fair share of the road though. It's a 2002 Grand Cherokee with 141,000 miles on it.

1. May it be resurrected quickly!

Nothing sucks more than job hunting on foot.

5. There's no going anywhere on foot.
I'm about 6 miles from the nearest store.

13. Have you considered a scooter as a second form of transportation.

After you get your car back and pick up a wonderful new job.

and get a motorcycle.

17. I'm moving back into civilization 2 months from now.

Then it'll be okay when I jump out of my skin if I hear something outside.

What kind of motorcycle are you thinking of?

20. Something small since I'm tiny.
Eventually, I really want a purple Harley Sportster, but I'd buy something cheaper for my 1st bike. Probably a ninja, since they're pretty inexpensive and they're light.

22. My house mate had a Sportster. She wasn't thrilled when she heard that she

needed to clean the oil out of the air filter frequently.

I loved hearing her Harley with its Screaming Eagle Pipes running down the road with me! Her V-Rod isn't the same. She refuses to ride on windy days until she changes the solid wheels to spokes.

No effect.

9. I was instigating...
.. I knew you checked the gas :)

The good news is, it could be anything. From ignition module to fuel pump to crank or throttle position sensor to MAS, to computer itself.

The bad news is, some of those things can be expensive. Be sure to post when you get it fixed and tell us what it was.

3. I'm hoping it's a minor problem. A battery or corroded cable.
141k ain't too shabby, either.

6. Yeah 141k is pretty damn good.
Especially since it never had a problem before. I'm hoping that since it never had a problem before, this most likely won't be too major of a thing.

7. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
I hope you can get it repaired ASAP. Btw, recently I had the same problem and it turned out to be a weak battery. It had a dead cell, I believe. It made all sorts of whinnying noises, but would not crank to save me. Too bad we don't live nearer to each other. Maybe I could have given you a jump start. :pals:

10. Without seeing or hearing it, I'm hazarding a wild-ass guess:
alternator or clogged fuel filter. Sounds to me as it's not firing, which is either lack of gas or lack of spark.

I hope it's a cheap, easy fix though.

11. It's definitely not lack of gas.
I am also hoping it's a cheap, easy fix. It will be getting towed in the morning.

12. It might be that the gas can't get to the fire, hence my back-up guess.
Best wishes (from a guy whose car has 129k miles but not the money to replace it).

Anyway, I just drive things with motors. I know nothing about fixing them. I can build things however.

19. No..
.. I'm not talking about you. The way you described it - the starter turns and the engine "turns over" but it doesn't fire - is fine. (Assuming that's what you meant, because that's what you said :))

But there are several suggestions of battery, cables, alternator - if you are "cranking", it really can't be any of those. :)

24. I'm only responsible for about 12,000 miles on it.
It had been a corporate car for my stepdad's company, so it got a lot of buisness use.
