We got custody!!!!!

Some of you may remember my thread last week
(sorry, forgot to save the link) about my irresponsible
stepdaughter and 1 YO "Katie".

Well, today the Family Court judge issued an order granting
LTwife and me custody of Katie until such time as "Mary" can
prove to the Court's satisfaction she's fit to raise a child.
(BTW-female judge). Although I'm 1000 miles away, I'm celebrating
tonight-no booze, though.

That's great news. "Katie" will be much better off with you. I have friends who have raised their now 16-year-old grandson for the last 13 years.

We have a same situation in our family. I know how difficult all the aspects are - but the most important thing is the love, safety and stability that Katie will now have. It not only helps her now but will give her the ability in later life to deal/understand the hows, whys and why-nots.Love to you all!
