I blame the entire state of Wisconsin.
The citizens thereof, the cows in the dairy farms, all of Milwaukee, the little children, the bowling leagues, the hot dish suppers. All of it. Everyone.

My colleague at work went to Wisconsin for a reunion. All we wanted from him was a postcard. Maybe a brick of Wisconsin cheddar. But nooooo! What did he bring back to share with the rest of us?!

Wisconsin Cheese Flu. Creeping Wisconsin Cheese Death.

I'll forgive the state of Wisconsin when I can breathe again and I don't have the work of six of my sick cow-orkers clogging up my inbox.

5. I drove through Wisconsin back in June
We stopped for lunch and my SO ordered a Philly cheesesteak. And there, in the heart of a land known for its cheese, on an item that's all about cheese, he received his sandwich and there was NO CHEESE on it!

God, that was the funniest thing ever.

29. No one outside of Wisconsin can make a proper brat.
My husband's family makes fun of me for boiling them in beer, and then they stuff themselves full when they're hot off the grill... the charcoal grill. :D

Another thing, where else in the world can you get a dog in sauce but Miller ( I miss saying County) stadium. I remember cupping my hands around mine on opening day...just to stay warm. :hi:

I can't quite get the hang of Miller.

And a dog in sauce sounds so damn good!

Know what else I miss? Smelt. Grew up in Kenosha and we make some damn good smelt there!

42. I went to County Stadium once...
The Brewers were playing the Red Sox, when Frank Viola was pitching for the Sox. We sat just a few rows behind home plate. The weather was 80 degrees and lightly breezy. Sitting there with a brat in one hand and a beer in the other, I found myself hoping the game would go into extra innings.

I've never even SEEN Wisconsin except in pictures. How dare they mock you for preparing brats correctly.

Full disclosure: I don't own a grill, so I cook mine on the stove top in a cast iron grill pan. Grill marks are grill marks, dammit!

Mom's family is from Green bay/Sturgeon Bay. My uncle used to have fish boils on the beach down along N. Bay Shore Drive where my grandma lived. Good stuff, even though it sounds weird. Now I live in MN and eat hotdish.

NEVER tell a Minnesotan or a Wisconsinite that the states are interchangeable.

Besides, hotdish truly is quintessentially Minnesotan.
