Mouses in the local houses |
|
Some in this house too. We have a live trap which without bait catches mouses. It has the capacity for catching and holding a lot of mouses like twenty or so. Our personal record so far is two mouses.
At the lab years ago we maintained a large breeding colony of mouses. We had hundreds of mouses maybe even thousands. Many through the natural course of time events perished from old age.
Some dozens of mouses we exposed to pressures equal to that found in 100 atmospheres of sea water; approximately 3,300 feet. The mouses were contained in a modified hamster habitat enclosed in a dry controlled gas atmosphere of mixed gases most commonly helium/oxygen or sometimes Argon/oxygen and other more exotic but less successfully gas mixtures.
By products of mouse life were removed by chemicals contained in a simple piston pump gas scrubber removing ammonia and carbon dioxide as being the most common and contaminating by products of mouse physiology. Oxygen partial pressures were maintained at or slightly above earth normal.
Most of the "diving mice" survived their ten day exposure to that harsh environment. Some mouse colonies even reproduced in that 100 atmosphere environment.
I thought about that one day as I put a single live mouse from the live trap into in a garbage bag last fall. His cute little eyes blinking up at me.
"You are safe I told him as you are off to the local dump. Go forth and multiply." I urged him.
Well he did and his family did and they are back visiting.
Sigh.

in a sort of round-about way it did. Also moved him on to a much better job.
I bet he still turns red and drips when confronted with a mouse. Hahahahaha

4. Yes better Mr/Ms Is It 1984Yet |

I am gaining strength able to walk with assistance a little. (At 72 yo) recovery is slow.
My true mouse story is I think sort of interesting and it is also a diversion of thoughts as well as a mind exercise both of which I am much in need of.
Thank you for your thoughts and interest.

3. You need some cats, badly |
|
I've never had mice since I got Miranda. She tried to kill one once as a kitten (she was too small to get the job done), and I killed it for her (put it in a bag and hit it with a broomstick). I have no qualms about killing mice. They should know better than to come into my house.

No more pets for us. And we did love our cats, dogs and one time (Mistake) ponies.
