Olive Garden/Red Lobster
Edited on Tue Aug-29-06 11:12 AM by ThomCat
One of my clients is one of the largest Advertising/PR/Marketing companies in the world. They are bidding on a Darden Restaurants contract. Darden owns Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Smokey Bones, Seasons 52 and Bahama Breeze.

They would like me to distribute this survey to my friends so they can find out what we all think about these restaurants.

I hearby set you loose upon this survey.

10. It was!
But I must have missed something. I couldn't find the questions about the breast-feeding section, and the policy of spacing out the screaming kids so that there is at least one next to every other occupied table.

Damn. I think I only did half the survey. :P

8. I actually like Olive Garden and Red Lobster
There are several items at OG that I like-the soup, salad and breadsticks for lunch, the seafood portofino. I know there are better italian restaurants around, and I eat at some of them, too. But Olive Garden is cheap and a good place for a work luncheon.

I like Red Lobster's food, but I think their portions are chinzy. Their cheese bread is awesome.

11. .
- If you NEVER visit any of the restaurants listed above, how likely are you to visit the restaurant in the future?

Not at all Likely

- If you responded “unlikely” or “not at all likely” to the previous question, please tell us why:

Why should I?

Because the Darden Corporation is a staunch supporter of the Bush Administration and the Republican Party, and I do not wish to contribute to either of these organizations through patronizing a restaurant.

15. Geez. I forgot about that.
Doh.

I told them that I don't eat at chain restaurants that don't serve vegetarian/vegan options, and that are often hostile to vegetarians/vegans. There are too many other restaurants out there that want my money.

16. I bet since it's an online survey
they are able to pull real time results.

I told them that when I go out to eat, I would like to have food that doesn't taste like it came out of the freezer. IMO, the food at OG, no matter where you are in the country, tastes identical...like it was prepared at corporate headquarters, frozen & shipped to all the restaurants. There is no individuality to any of it..and they use WAAAYYY too much salt at all of these places.

17. What is scary about that survey ....
the OTHER chain restaurants that they compare them to.

and they spread like KUDZU.

I was in Moscow about four years ago. I spotted, (in Cyrillic disguise), TGIF, Sbarro's Pizza, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and many McDonalds. I was told there were about 60 Mickey D's in Moscow.

The mallization of the world.

As to Olive Garden, I ate there once, and the food was drowned, I mean drowned, in olive oil.

23. Olive Garden could make decent food.
Italian cuisine is very forgiving. All they would have to do is give up the packaged shit that comes from headquarters and buy some local produce. And then don't drown everything in olive oil/bland marinara sauce/italian dressing.

Use fresh ingredients and let people taste the fresh ingredients. Geez, it's not that difficult.

a few years ago. I got sick right there in the dining room. The manager came over and offered me a coupon for another free meal. What an asshat, think I'm going to give them another chance to kill me they are crazy.
