Oliver Garden received his BSc degree from King’s College, University of London, and his BVetMed degree from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London. Following a year as an intern, he completed a four-year Wellcome Residency / PhD programme at the RVC in gastrointestinal immunology. Oliver then moved to the USA, where he completed a Wellcome Research Training Fellowship within the Division of Transplantation Medicine, University of South Carolina Medical School, and a Residency in Small Animal Medicine, Cornell University – becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2002, and of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2003. He returned to the UK in June 2001 to a Wellcome Advanced Fellowship within the Department of Immunology, Imperial College London, where his principal research interest is in the area of T cell tolerance. He was awarded the position of Honorary Lecturer in 2003, in recognition of his increasing contribution to teaching and examining on the BSc and MSc courses run by the Department.
