I'm SHOCKED I tell ya!!! Paris Hilton's record not selling well |
|
http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix/pagesix_u.htmPARIS Hilton's career as a pop star is fizzling as quickly as one of her blink-and-you'll-miss-it relationships. In its first week out of the gate, Hilton's first CD is being widely seen as a certified flop. "Paris," which features the single "Stars Are Blind," sold a lackluster 75,000 copies in the United States - a pittance compared to Christina Aguilera's first-week sales of 320,000, according to Soundscan.
And projected sales for next week are said to be a measly 30,000, which is a larger than normal second week drop.
"Paris" is languishing at the bottom of Billboard's Hot 100 - so Hilton's label rushed out her second single, "Turn It Up," which isn't doing very well either.
"The international outlook is not much better for her," one industry source told Page Six. "The international people are not inclined to do a big push since she can't back up the album with a tour. Obviously, she can't sing live."
The source added that Hilton was advised a year ago to train her voice, work with choreographers and learn an instrument to prepare for a limited tour, but "obviously she didn't listen." <<<<more.....must read about Elijah Blue Allman disinfecting his privates after an encounter with Hilton>>>>

2. I don't follow the media/pop culture nonsense. |
|
I rarely turn on my tv, and the only magazines I buy are political/progressive ones.
So forgive me if I don't know much about Paris Hilton. But I listened to her CD and liked most of it. It's not a masterpiece, but it's better than a lot of the mass-produced crap out there. I went and bought a copy and I've listened to it several times now.
It's party-pop sung in a breathy voice but she had some good timing, and she has clearly had some voice training. She put some emotion into a few of the songs. Her singing is not flat/dead like some singers.
From what little I know of her, this is probably her best work to-date, and she clearly did work for this CD.

4. She must have slept with the record producer |

I know it sounds bigoted and mean but come on. I don't think anybody out there really takes her seriously as a singer and these record companies aren't stupid. They spend big bucks on production and marketing and anybody and everybody probably knew that with PH you wouldn't get any of that money back or not enough to even waste their time.
Maybe she'll do great in Europe and Japan like the Knight Rider guy. (I didn't want to look up how to spell his last name)

5. I'm thinking she was willing to sink enough of her own money into the deal |
|
I mean, the woman can't sing - she won't tour because a tour means you actually have to sing & dance, which she can't do. Perhaps she'll make a few key appearance where she can get away with 1 lip-sync'd song but that's about it.

12. I'd pay to see her... |
|
...do a lip-sync thing on Saturday Night Live and the CD or tape would mess up and go at chipmunk speed.

10. Hey, it's only 105,000 |
|
She's got at least that many left. Except they're probably worried about STDs just from the CD case.
Good lord, will this woman never go away? I get this rag called the Red Eye for free on the bus ride to work. I have a five minute commute, which is enough to read Red Eye cover to cover (it's a training wheels newspaper from the Tribune that clues the kids in on where to drink cheap martinis...it has two whole pages of actual news) and that clueless *ahem* is on the back page about twice a week. Not for any reason, mind you...
If 20-somethings think this talentless slut is newsworthy, is there any hope for the future?

13. Sweetie, it just goes to show you what money can buy for talentless hacks |
|
Have you ever seen her before pictures - fix the nose, starve the body and bleach the hair horribly blond. Spend millions on a PR agent and BAM! you too could be a star!
