New car!!!
Ok, I gotta share. I finally traded in my 10-year-old Sentra for a shiny silver 2007 Scion tC. I think I'm in love.

It looks exactly like this:

I'm like a new parent, I totally didn't want to leave it alone in the garage tonight.

PS: I want to give props to nini for hooking me up with the best car broker in all of Los Angeles County. Without him (and, by extension, without nini), I would be insane right now. Seriously.

I'll probably enjoy it right up to the first payment. x(

No, actually, I still enjoy it after the checks I wrote today, so the monthly payment shouldn't have any effect. ;)

2. Congratulations! One thing I've wondered about, looking at their logo/
marque ... are they related to Toyota in some way? It just seems vaguely reminiscent of the Toyota logo.

4. More than related
Scion is Toyota, much like Lexus is Toyota. The tC comes with a Camry engine and body base.

Good eye!

42. Scion is marketed towards the younger generation
as the Toyota brand is too boring. Scion is where Toyota takes youthful design risks.

3. I had the Scion Xa and LOVED IT.. Congratulations, they're awesome cars.
Check the seat however.. that was my one and only complaint. It wasn't shaped quite right for my back and gave me a bit of a back ache.

Great cars. Enjoy!!!!

What happened? Did you lose it in a parking lot? ;)

I did notice that the seats are a bit odd, but there are so many ways to adjust it that I'm assuming I'll find something that works right. Just haven't had a chance yet.

18. Yes, I sold it when I sold most of my worldly goods and moved
around the world to live in France.

Now I have a cute little Nissan Micra.

I see that the price has held solid, even used. I sold it last June for $11,500 and that's what the book value still is for the 2004.

Good luck with the seat and enjoy, it's just super.

I actually had to go to Gardena to get it, I should have stopped by and showed it off!

Actually, now that I'm teaching, I've got really weird work hours, so I'm using the subway a bit less. Though only for a few months.

My coworkers are forcing me to drive to work tomorrow though, they all want a ride!

Otherwise, I certainly would have called!

BTW, how did your surgery prep go today? And, I think I'm out of the loop, I didn't know you were having surgery...is everything ok?

The surgery prep went perfectly......they drew a couple little tubes of blood, and did a 12-lead EKG.......

The surgery will be next Wed......and I will have a thread on it....

It will be outpatient surgery...

It is for the nipple discharge I had back in June/July.......

All should be OK..........

Actually, I forgot the directions to the broker's office and I'd never been to that part of the city before. And yet...oddly...found it with no problems. Even found my way home...clear across the city.

Funny how that happened, since LA is the most difficult city to get around in. :P

(and no, there's no GPS...wasn't even an option!)

27. Alas
the only downside I've found to this car is the gas mileage. It's really pretty awful. 23mpg in city.

But it's got a Camry engine on an obviously far lighter car, so the trade-in is a better than average 0-to-60. Which is nice when merging onto Los Angeles freeways and shooting up Mulholland Drive.

I think I'd also be a bit scared of it in snow-prone areas. It's a really light car with really low ground clearance.

So, as much as I love it, you might be better off with the Jeep! ;)

I meant the old car I still drive. I have never bought a 'new' car in my life.

escort whatchamallit Z someting with that useless bar over the trunk. that adds something nothing but visual. 98.

btw, I've always disliked white cars (have no idea why) until I saw my baby...

==

also on edit:
my SO has never paid over 2500 for a car in his life. He's a semi mechanic, full body man worker. Huge station wagons is his thing, the old days station wagons. (oiy, am I going to be slapped along with the shiney SUV Hummer crowd?) but it has meaning and relevance. Hauling lumber and wot wot about, taking canoes and equipment out for camping.

he has a thing for good old station wagons that aren't really trucks. Thinking about converting one of them (a diesel) to SVO, straight vegetable oil.
