Deric Grendon, 24, of West Brookfield was let go on $100 bail, but he was later re-arrested for violating a restraining order his new bride took out on him after the assault. The charges against him include assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.
Witnesses say Grendon became violent during the party at of the Knights of Columbus Hall after he saw a guest groping his bride. The groom's mother suffered minor injuries when she tried to break up the ensuing altercation.
Police on Sunday found Grendon intoxicated in the parking lot with several family members, who were attempting to pacify him.
The couple's honeymoon has presently been put on hold. Grendon's second arrest came after he approached his wife about getting a divorce.
