Poll question: Do you keep a diary? |
|
I keep a daily written diary of my activities and random musings, and have done for years (with some hiatuses). I find it a very pleasant and rewarding exercise, and I was wondering how widespread diary-keeping is.

1. I kept written diaries - not daily, but frequent - from 7th grade |
|
through about age 22 or 23.
Now? No. Occasionally I write in a leatherbound journal, and I blog too. The blog, of cousre, never gets TOO deeply personal.

7. It's an under-rated activity, IMHO. |

Although diaries written during adolescence tend to be horrifyingly cringe-making when looked back upon, in later years having a record becomes a pleasure. The writing is certainly far less hormonal and overwraught. But at least hormonal and overwraught is honest.

I've tried at various points in my life - but they invariably last for fewer than 4 days. :eyes:

8. I found two things helped that problem. |
|
1. Don't fret if you miss a day or two - don't feel all the missed details have to be included, otherwise it becomes a chore.
2. Don't be frightened of writing "nothing worth recording happened today" or a similarly ultra-short entry.
