3. I'll miss him, he made some fine movies. He started working in
Hollywood back in the late 30s.

4. That's one of my favorite old movies
Ford, Sidney Poitier, Vic Morrow, Anne Francis, Jamie Farr under his real name, Jameel Farah.

Pretty edgy for its time.

Thanks, man. Safe passage.

Superman's dad....:( BTW, they used his picture in Superman Returns, you can see it atop the piano during the scene between clark/martha at the begining....

on edit:this may sound cruel, but I thought he was all ready dead...

6. I recently caught a twisted little flick with Glenn in it.
3:10 to Yuma. Saw it on cable. Ford plays a Hannibal Lecter-like bad guy in a very nicely done film. Unfortunately, like many of the edgy Hollywood flicks of the time (i.e. The Bad Seed), it has a cop-out ending. Overall though, it was a surprisingly good film, right up there with High Noon on the tension meter.

Glenn Ford

May 1, 1916
Born Gwyllyn Samuel Newton Ford in Sainte-Christine, Quebec, actor Glenn Ford appeared in 106 films and several television series.

For his military service, he has received the French Legion of Honor Medal in 1992, for his service in World War II, the Medal of Honor, presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Medaille de la France Libre for the liberation of France, two commendation medals from the US Navy, and was inducted into the Vietnamese Legion of Merit.

More than half of his movie appearances were in westerns but Ford played equally well in light comedies and film noir, and was voted the number one male box office attraction in 1958. He was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame by the Western Heritage Museum in 1978.

I recently watched the Superman movie and looked him up. Sad to hear. RIP Mr. Ford. ETA - I have to add Courtship of Eddie's Father - what a great flick.
