I went into my preferences yesterday to change my DU mickname. I chose it hastily because I just joined to have a look around and didn't know what other name to use, so I picked up the brand name off my PC monitor.
Long story short: DU does not allow you to change your nickname. There's nothing really strange about that, I guess, but here's the weird part -- it DOES let you change your real name. First off, nobody sees your real name (mine's Jeff). Second, your real name doesn't change... at least not often enough that you'd make it an option, while locking the nickname.
Anybody know why?

1. Actaully, they do. Just contact the administrators politely. |

However, I believe you lose your post count; I may be wrong.

I just worry that I'll buy a different brand of monitor next time. Then I'm screwed

3. I never noticed that you could change your real name! |

Perhaps Karl Rove will be posting as blondeatlast in the future!
I'm such a chicken I'd never do it, but still it would make for an interesting Google search!

4. You can change your name, but your DU history begins anew. |
|
I did it. I was a DUer from 2001. I had a nickname, at first. Got tombstoned in 2003, apologized, was allowed to come back to the fold, began using my real name, but had to begin my post count all over again.
